Large areas of species-rich wet grassland are nestled between constructed wetlands full of Bulrushes and young native woodlands. This mosaic of habitats helps insects thrive, such as bumblebees, solitary bees, hoverflies and dragonflies. In the winter, part of the grassland is flooded, then in spring, Violets, Primroses, and Cuckooflower emerge. Among the tall grasses, you’ll find areas of Ragged-Robin, Lesser Stitchwort, Wild Angelica, Marsh Woundwort, Yellow Iris, Marsh Cinquefoil, and Devil’s-bit Scabious. Unusual species to look for include Mugwort and Salad Burnet.
